False Humility

I received this Nelson Mandela quote a couple of days ago. Someone had it as their email signature.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fears, our presence automatically liberates others.

I love that.

  1. Chris, I love this quote! I am still tapping into, discovering what my talents are…who I am…and letting my light shine….(it’s been hidden for a while!). 😉 Yes, being liberated from our fears is wonderful…and true love conquers fear…It is a beautiful thing to let our light shine and it is freeing to those around us!…it’s a win, win! 🙂
